The newly certified HPR delivers mission-critical storage for ISR operations, military training, and surveillance applications in extreme environments
OSLO — March 18 — Galleon Embedded Computing, a leader in ruggedized computing solutions, today announced that its High-Performance Recorder (HPR) has completed comprehensive environmental qualification testing. This milestone certification ensures reliable performance for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations, military training and debriefing, and airborne and marine surveillance applications in the most challenging operational environments. The server/network-attached storage device/recorder provides customers with a robust solution featuring up to 32TB of storage and 5GB/s recording speeds.
The HPR qualification program included evaluations for altitude, decompression, fluid susceptibility, vibration, shock, acceleration, temperature, power characteristics, and electromagnetic interference (EMI). IABG, an independent, owner-managed high-tech service provider headquartered near Munich, Germany, conducted the comprehensive testing.
“Successfully completing this rigorous qualification program represents a significant advancement for our military and aerospace customers operating in environments where equipment reliability is paramount,” said Terje Melsom, Chief Technology Officer, Galleon Embedded Computing. “Our team has methodically enhanced every aspect of the HPR’s design, delivering a solution that combines exceptional performance with field-proven durability that mission-critical operations require.”
About the HPR
The HPR is a compact system for high-performance recording speeds of up to 5GB/s, utilizing 8- Port 10 Gb Ethernet interfaces. It is built on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) open architecture modules. The system features a removable data module (RDM) that can be configured with high-performance NVMe storage options. The NVMe RDM can provide up to 32TB of storage.
Applications and use cases for the HPR:
- ISR Operations: Surveillance and reconnaissance require reliable video storage under fluctuating conditions, often in remote or challenging terrains. The HPR’s rugged build and EMI/RFI filtering capabilities perfectly align with ISR applications.
- Debriefing and Training: SSD reliability benefits training exercises in rugged environments and mission debriefing. Immediate access to recorded data ensures prompt analysis and feedback.
- Airborne and Marine Surveillance: High-definition cameras installed on helicopters, UAVs, and naval vessels endure vibration, saltwater exposure, and variable temperatures. Solid-state DVRs meet these demands without compromising data quality or risking recording interruptions.
