Galleon to Showcase Deployable, AI-Ready Electronic Warfare Recording Solution at Dixie Crow Symposium 47

In less than a week, the Association of Old Crows (AOC) will kick off its 47th annual Dixie Crow Symposium in Warner Robins, Georgia, hosted by the AOC’s Dixie Crow Chapter. The Symposium is expecting to welcome more than 50 organizations that are ready to share their latest developments, innovations, and products that support Information Warfare/Electronic Warfare (IW/EW) efforts.

The Association of Old Crows (AOC) is a non-profit organization that develops and advances Information Warfare/Electronic Warfare (IW/EW) technologies. AOC strives to support, inspire, educate, and promote the IW/EW technology that contributes significantly to national security worldwide through its various initiatives and programs. With its vast network of professionals in both government and industry, AOC has been influential in developing policies, educating personnel, establishing standards, and advocating for funding and research in this ever-evolving field. Today, the AOC continues to be at the forefront of bringing IW/EW technology advances to bear for the safety and security of our nation.

The Dixie Crow Chapter of the AOC has been a source of pride for its local community for more than half a century. Founded in 1968, the Chapter has seen remarkable growth over the years. It now boasts nearly 400 members from various backgrounds, including military personnel, defense civilians, industry professionals, and academics. These members come together to share their knowledge and expertise on all things related to Electronic Warfare (EW), Electromagnetic Spectrum Management Operations (EMSO), Cyber Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA), Information Operations (IO), and other information-related capabilities. What began as just a small group of like-minded individuals is now an organization that strives towards excellence in these fields while providing resources and education to the greater community.

During the symposium, Galleon Embedded Computing plans to showcase several of its distinguished XSR and G1 products, all of which have been instrumental in supporting high-profile programs engaged in electronic and information warfare.

From the XSR family, Galleon will be ready to answer questions and provide insights into the features and capabilities of the XSR 40GbE Recorder, a powerful EW/IW rugged recording and processing solution.

The XSR 40GbE Recorder

The XSR 40GbE Recorder is invaluable for signal intelligence (SIGINT) operations in extreme environments. Galleon has designed this advanced Recorder to ensure its reliable performance and capabilities remain continuous and unaffected, even at the extreme temperatures inherent in high-altitude, low-pressure flight conditions. The XSR’s high-speed & high-bandwidth Recorder can capture UDP or TCP/IP data from multiple speed Ethernet interfaces simultaneously, including up to 5x Gigabit Ethernet, 2x 10Gb Ethernet interfaces, and 1x 40 Gigabit Ethernet interface at over 2GBytes/s recording speeds. With the ability to consume and record enormous amounts of sophisticated sensor data, the XSR Recorder is an ideal candidate for deployed systems such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Fixed-wing drones, tethered aerostats, etc..) widebody airborne early warning and control (AEW&C/AWAC) aircraft, and supersonic carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft.

GPU-Enabled Hardware Acceleration

In addition to the high-bandwidth recording pipe provided by this rugged ethernet recorder, the XSR’s hardware-accelerated GPGPU allows for powerful multicore parallel processing.

A multicore processor is a type of computing technology that allows for the simultaneous processing of multiple tasks. Each core contains its own core processor, which enables it to process tasks independently from the other cores. This means that each core can take a different task or workload, allowing for faster and more efficient processing when compared to single-core processors. With better parallel processing capabilities, multicore processors are capable of performing more complex tasks in shorter amounts of time while consuming less energy. Additionally, multithreading allows each individual core to work on two separate processes concurrently. This further improves the performance and efficiency of multitasking operations by cutting down on latency caused by switching back and forth between processes.

AI & Deep Machine Learning for Enhanced Situational Awareness

With the implementation of a high-bandwidth ethernet recording pipeline and multicore hardware-accelerated GPGPU processing, the system is hardware-compatible for real-time data processing and analysis provided by Artificial Intelligence and deep machine learning. Through AI and ML, battlespace commanders can sense and view the total situation through trends analysis, pattern recognition, prediction modeling, and more. These capabilities are some of the necessary components required for real-time situational awareness, a high-priority 21st century defense objective.

Dual-Layer Software Full Disk Encryption (SWFDE) & Hardware Full Disk Encryption (HWFDE)

Last year, Galleon’s XSR Family of Rugged Computing Products was submitted to, and certified by, The National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) for its hardware and software dual layer encryption for data at rest. NIAP, which oversees evaluations of commercial IT products for use in national security systems, is responsible for U.S. implementation of the Common Criteria.

The XSR’s dual layer certified encryption follows the NSA’s Rule of Two, a data security principle outlined in the Commercial Solutions for Classified Program (CSfC) that is designed to keep confidential information safe from unauthorized access. This stringent protocol mandates two distinct layers of cryptography to ensure maximum protection, with each layer containing distinct encryption algorithms and keys. Galleon’s NIAP certification applies in all Common Criteria partner countries.
